Honour for young researcher

DMTC congratulates Emily Kibble (pictured below), who won the AIDN-WA Young Achiever Award for her work on preventative measures against pathogenic bacteria. The award was presented by the Australian Industry and Defence Network Western Australia this month.

Emily is part of the research team at the University of Western Australia working on a DMTC project within the Medical Countermeasures program, along with research partners DST, the Peter Doherty Institute at the University of Melbourne and the University of Wurzburg. Emily is also supported under DMTC’s Education Program.

As the Western Australian Young Achiever award recipient, Emily will now be among the contenders for a national award to be announced in February 2019.

Our 2018 Annual Report is now online. Along wth a foreword from Ministers Pyne and Ciobo, this year’s report seeks to recap on the activities that were conducted across 2017-18 while also highlighting just a few of the exemplar projects across a decade of achievements.

New DMTC project bringing medical and industrial expertise together

DMTC Limited has announced the commencement of a new project under Round Three of its Medical Countermeasures Program. The project will advance the development of a new Australian antibiotic by partnering its developer, Boulos & Cooper Pharmaceuticals, with manufacturing experts from CSIRO. New protective coating set to keep ships at sea for longer

A new corrosion-resistant coating that halved the build-up of algae and barnacles on ship hydraulic components is now the subject of on-ship trials aboard HMAS Canberra, one of the Royal Australian Navy landing helicopter dock ships. (more…)
