The Defence Materials Technology Centre’s Awards for Excellence recognise individuals and project teams within DMTC whose efforts have significantly contributed to the execution of DMTC’s vision and mission.
DMTC will again be presenting the following four awards at our annual conference:
• Industry Partnership Award
• Early Career Award
• Research Collaboration Award
• Capability Improvement Award
Nominiations are welcomed from people participating in DMTC activities and will close at 5pm Tuesday 28th February.

The best judged presentations from each of the three domains (air, land and sea) are being given the opportunity to present their work at the 2013 DMTC Annual Conference in Canberra. Students were also educated in the areas of IP and Commercialisation and Presentation Skills. The three winners were:
Land Domain: Eric Yang, The University of Melbourne, “Structural Performance of Armour Connections Subject to Impulsive Damage”
Sea Domain: Cameron Barr, The University of Melbourne, “Equal Channel Angular Processing of Nickel Aluminium Bronze for Marine Platforms”
Air Domain: Donna Capararo – University of Queensland, “Mechano-chemical rate determining step and mechanisms of crack initiation in aircraft coatings”

This next presentation titled ‘Achievements and Opportunities in the Air Domain will discuss a number of technical outcomes of the DMTC Air Domain Program to date and provide insight into where DMTC can provide support to future sustainment and acquisition programs. The technical discussion will also present examples of cross-disciplinary utilisation of technology, and discuss opportunities to leverage successes in the Land and Maritime sectors into the Air domain.
